You're welcome.
There is a work-around that some people use. You can rip the DVD to the hard drive in a different format and create a library of movies that can be played on the Extender.
That is a bit of work if you just want to put a borrowed or rented DVD in the Vista computer and watch one time however.

Dear James,.
Your answer cleared all my doubt I have in mind- I thought it was a technical issue that my Windows Media Center is misconfigured.
Thanks for taking time to explain all these.
Have a good day.
Cheers

Due to restriction of DRM (Digital Rights Management), you can't do that (or play a CD). It is not a technical issue, it is a licensing problem. DVD's and CD's are restricted to only allow the original device to play them, transmitting them (to the Extender) is considered a violation of the license and is not allowed.

Thanks for the answer.
Sorry for not being able to state my question clearly otherwise I could be a
native English speaker :-)
My questions are the following:
1. I was able to play the DVD on my Windows Media Center computer and now I
would like to stream this to the TV via the extennder as my computer screen
is too small to watch movies.
2. There is a "Play DVD" on my Windows Media Center computer; but this "Play
DVD" option isnt available on the extender via its remote
control.
Thanks

You're going to need to rephrase the question. You said that you can play
movies via the extender, then you asked how to play a movie via the
extender
If you meant you can play a TV show via the extender and you want to play
a DVD disc that is in the Vista machine to your extender, unfortunately,
you can't due to DRM restrictions.

Hello Experts,
I have Vista Ultimate (SP1) and Linksys Media Center Extender (DMA2100).
I managed to play movies from my Windows media center extender from my
remote control successfully. Does any body knows how do play movie from
my Vista machine and stream it to my TV via the extender?
Thanks very much in advance for any of your advice.
Regards
