Re: Administrator password

If you do a reinstall using the XP disc, it will ask for a new password at setup, so you will, effectively, reset the password. However, that will also create a new installation of Windows, so you will have to reinstall all software/patches/updates/etc.

You will also have a new profile with an empty "My Documents" folder, so yes, anything stored there will be gone. If you want to do a reinstall of Windows, you need to make sure you have backed up any files and user data first.

However, why not try S.Sengupta's suggestion first?

If I just reload my xp system disk will it allow me to reset or change my
password? If so will it impact my email account in any way.like lose my
address book or saved items? The only reason I need to restore my password is
to get read of the error message(avsmcpa.dll)I've been having a print problem
and so far after several emails to HP they haven't been able to help and I
thought maybe this error may have something to do with it,when I print it
prints text as if it's encrypted but prints pictures ok,maybe it's not
related but I figured it was worth a try.I don't really want to buy a program
that I will only use once. What do you think?Thank you for your response.
