Drivers for HP Expresscard Digital/Analog TV Tuner and Compatibility with Vista MC

I'm running Vista 32 Home Premium on a laptop. It came with an HP 438587-001 tuner. Best I can tell, its either a Hauppauge HVR-1500 or 1600 equivalent. I also believe there is an HP driver update that will bring it up to clear QAM standards. Problem is the driver update is listed for an HP 438587-002. HP says it should work, but I'd like to make sure. I've also asked Hauppauge, but no clear answer yet.
So I have two questions. 1) Does anyone have any familiarity with these tuners and know if an 001 will accept an 002 driver. 2) Hauppauges' site is confusing as to whether or not media center will work with their QAM drivers or not. So even if I update the driver successfully, does anyone know if it will work with Vista MC in HD (1080i) mode?
Thanks for the help.
