There must be something running...
Goto Task Manager, look in the Processes tab and then sort by CPU

Per Curious:
Regretfully Pete for some unknown reason did not include his original post
in his response. I have deleted it but I believe it said that task manager
showed no applications running.
Nor did he say in his original post what OS he is running. If it is a new
Vista installation it may be still indexing files while no applications
are
Correctamundo: TaskMan doesn't show anything; that's why 9-13%
CPU use seems like an issue to me.
I installed from MSDN's "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005" on
Disc 22428.5 January 2005.
However MyComputer|System Properties is showing "Microsoft
Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2."
I just flipped through all my green MSDN discs, and none of them
purport to contain MCE 2002 - the 2005 title is the only one - so
I'm pretty sure I didn't install from the wrong disc.
Haven't applied any of MS's updates yet pending a decision on
whether to stick with MCE or revert to XP Pro SP2.
