Done the uninstalled on Norton, disable X10. Still it did not work.

I'd re-enable everything except x10. Also please uninstall all.
Norton programs completely, at least for now.

Ok, I finally remove both MC PC and MCX totally from the network. I did a PnP--
connection between both. Since I do not have a crossover cable, I pull out a
brand new 10/100 switch which is not part of my original network for the
test. The connect failed after 30 minutes. This would eliminate all
possibility for the issue that originate from the existing network. A couple
of things I notice. In attempting to reconnect it will fail despite the PC is
able to ping to the MCX. I also took down all the startup programs:
- X10Burst (Active Home) which I disabled
- Bluetooth
- HP Digital Imaging (Printer driver)
- MS Media Center Tray Applet
- MS userint logon
- Rundll32
- MS WMP Network Sharing Services (WMPNSCFG.exe)
- MS Windows Sidebar
- Windows Defender
- HPSYSDRV
- Lightscribe
- Kdbstub.exe (I guess it is for wireless keyboard)
- Launchextender Support
- OSD Maestro
- Raid Event Monitor
- Realtek HD Audo Control Panel
- Adobe Acrobat
- Java SE6UI
- Live Update
- Symantic Security Tool
- Quicktime
I truly appreciate all your help. Let me know what other information is
needed to narrow the suspect. Thanks again!

I'm a bit out of my depth here, but I seem to recall that DHCP renews
itself from time to time. If it does so on your machine, but fails
after the first try, that might explain what you see.
Of course, you'd have to try to renew the DHCP connection every half
hour, whereas 24 hours is more normal, IIRC.
I just looked around in my router setup and in my network setup, and I
can't find where to change it (I thought it was in the router setup).
Good luck.

Hello Barb and Gene,
Looks like the suspect is in the route not MCE, MCX or other software. I
will take that path and invest in a crossover cable this weekend and see if
PnP yield the result we are looking for. Still puzzle me why the timeout is
so regular ie. MCE shell exit 30 minutes after MCX connection. Just wondering
if there is any suspects on that front. Again Thanks!

My understanding to connect the DMA2100 directly with the MC PC without
routers/switches would require crossover cables which I do not have. I did
tried a normal CAT5 cable which does not work. Let me know if I am wrong or
how I can set that up to test and verify.
On AV software, I had only the basic factory installation like HP DVD
Player, Cyberlink DVD suite, WMP and InterVideo but none of these are
running during my test to connect the MC PC to DMA2100. I have also stopped
all other background software, firewalls and UAC (by system of elimination)
in the hope to find out if there are conflicts.
Also I am on Vista Home Premium and not XP. Do not know if that have any
impact.
On the term load balance, this may be misleading as there is a possibility
(not now) that I may require heavy internet usage (data transfers) in my
home office while video streams are going on in another room. Since I
upgraded my WRT54G to WRT300N I decided to continue with the WRT54G.
Thanks for continue looking into my issue. Truly hope you can help me and
really appreciate.

109 usually means the MCE shell exited unexpectedly. 113 is just
"session established successfully"
can you connect the DMA2100 directly to the MCE PC with Ethernet,
bypassing all switches, routers, access point and see if you have
issues?
what AV software do you have? what else is running on the PC at the
time?
You spoke earlier about having the balance the load and the need for
two routers. I can't see any kind of load here with what you listed.
But direct connecting the extender to the PC will rule out all of
those conflicts.

Took a relook on the network it should be:--
Modem
WRT300N (Gateway/DHCP) ----- Notebook PC (LAN)+------ AP (WPA2)
Wifi (WPA2) +------Switch
-------------------- WRT54G ---------------- Wifi (WPA2)
HP Media PC
AiO Printer/Fax/Scan
Hava (Future)
I took the WRT54G off the network and still 30 minute connection timeout
occurs.
Thanks Again.

Hello Barb,
First off I took the second router WRT54G out of the network (one router
network) and still the 30 minute timeout exist. Now on your question,
here is how I setup my network
modem
WRT300N (Gateway/DHCP) --- Notebook Work PC (LAN)+------------- AP (WPA2)
Wifi (WPA2)
+------------- WRT54G -- Switch --- HP Media PC
| DMA2100
| AiO Printer/Fax/Scan
| Hava (PVR) (Future)
+Wifi (WPA2)
I would have 2 or more adhoc notebooks accessing my network via Wifi.
Again Thanks for looking into my issue.

not sure what you mean by balancing the load. how many computers do
you have on this network? can you post info on what is connected to

wrt300N

Hello Barb,--
I have not tried removing one router. Will do that to check and reply.
The WRT300N is the DHCP/Gateway/Router. This is my edge device. The
WRT54G is just a router to balance the load. Its hooked to my MC PC
via switches. Would this impact the MCE. I am having expansion plan
for a Voice Gateway soon. Thanks so much for getting back.

you have two routers ? that certainly complicates this. does this
happen if you remove one router from the picture? how are these
connected to your broadband modem? which is the edge device? is the
WRT300N connected to the modem? is the WRT54G configures as an
access point and not as a router handing out DHCP addresses?

Hi Everyone,--
I am currently faced with a situation where the Media PC disconnects
my extender in about 30 minutes. I connect both Media PC and
extender (DMA2100) wired (Cat 5) to the routers (WRT300N and
WRT54G). All connections and bandwidth works fine and at maximum
stable performance. Event Viewer indicate ID 109 about 30 minutes
everytime about ID 113. System Log does not have events that
associate to Media Event. I have tried the following still
connection fails in 30 minutes. - Turn-off Firewall
- Turn-off UAC
- Set no-sleep, no-hibenate for PC, network card.
- Reboot PC, Routers, switches
- Re-install MCX
This seems to be experience by other users regardless of extenders. I
guess it is a much awaited solution by many. Thanks truly for your
help.
