Re: XP MCE version 2002 only 1GB of RAM? Anyone have a capacity ch

Your post dated 9/18/09, 18:38 PDT, in *this newsgroup*, has engendered several useful replies. To be explicit, that message has:
Message-ID: <F8C4800F-0980-4146-B57F-E3014CBE247E@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

However, your attitude expressed below makes me sorry that I tried to help.

If you are posting in more than one newsgroup, you are advised to cross-post so that you see all answers and so that *we* see all answers. That is just common courtesy.

I wasn't aware that ay of the other posts had answered my question... I don't know if you're talkin' about this post in particular because I had a helluva time getting this to post without erroring out. If you're referring to the other threads in the different sections, then why don't you explain to me how this answers my question? I had one person tell me to upgrade to 2005 version, and the only thing I could find referring to an upgrade was the service packs. So unless you're going to provide me a link to an actual upgrade, and not a service pack, or a real answer to my question, I would ask that you just not say anything at all.

Do you ever read any of the replies?

You have asked this three times and gotten answers, read some of those replies for help.

I'm looking for a capacity chart for XP Media Center Edition version 2002
(OEM with Dell Inspiron 6000). I am unable to use 2GB of RAM on my laptop,
but Dell says that it will work. I have tested the hardware and it's all in
good working order. I have a feeling that my OS is limiting the amount of RAM
I can use, but I cannot find a capacity table for the life of me.
I have service pack 2 installed, but I'm affraid that since this was the
first version of Media Center to be released that it is the culprit. Any help
or even a shove in the right direction would be appreciated.

... when I have 2 BG (1GBx2 DDR2 533) installed I can't even get the POST.
The power LED comes on for a brief moment, then I hear the HDD stop spinning.
I am unable to make any changes in the BIOS that will allow me to use more
RAM.

Any clues before I go and buy another OS?
