Re: can't view HD (ATSC) Channels in XP Media Center

Since beyond TV works fine it shows that your tuner card and its drivers appear to be working fine.
If you can play a previously recorded HD program it shows that you decoder and graphics card are working fine.
Can you record a program using MC without watching it live and then play it back?
The MC center software itself may the cause of the problem.
Have you tried running Check Disk?
Have you tried the repair option from the installation CD?

Curious, thanks for sticking with me on this problem, I really appreciate it.
I have tried EVERY other MC compatible decoder and none of them make a
difference.
Yes, I can view previously recorded material.
Yes, I can view DVD
No, this is WHY I took the comp to the shop in the first place.
Ok, I have some new information that I think is going to help greatly to
solve this.
I d/l Beyond TV to see if that would work.
It does. Completely and utterly beautifully. :) Now, when I installed the
software it asked me what the first connection was that I wanted to install.
So I used Antenna (Digital). Then it showed it was using the: ATI AVStream
Analog Capture.
Great. Now I had all of my OTA local channels installed.
Then it asked for my second connection. So I used Standard Cable. Then it
showed it was using: ATI BDA Digital Tuner. Then my cable channels were
installed and everything works GREAT!!!
So I think this is where the problem is. I know I have an ATI Unified
AVStream Driver because it shows up in my device Manager. But I have never
seen or heard of the ATI BDA Digital Tuner.
Is the ATI AVStream Analog Capture the same as the ATI Unified AVStream
Driver in my DM? If so, why can Beyond TV use it to find my locals when MD
can't? I'm hoping this new information helps because althgouh I LOVE the
Beyond TV software, I can't afford the $150 to buy it in 21 days when my
trial runs out! I still need to use MC. Hoep to hear back from you soon.
Thanks.

First I suggest that you try the other Cyber link decoder that is MC
compatible.
Can you play any previously recorded or sample recorded programs with MC?
Can you play a DVD using MC?
Did the problem first occur when you got your system back from the shop with
the different version of Power DVD installed?
