Re: can't view HD (ATSC) Channels in XP Media Center

MC does not support QAM so the question in MC center setup is not relevant
your answer should be analog. The question is really for MC use if you were
using a digital STB to receive digital channels from your cable company
which you were then feeding to your analog tuner.
With decoder check which of the decoders that you listed do you have
selected as the preferred decoder?
Do you have any problem playing DVDs in MC?
Do you have any problem configuring and watching analog TV with your cable
service connected to analog input connector?
Do you also have all of the updates to MCE 2005 installed?

Hello again all. Thanks for helping. I DO have the ATI TV Wonder 650 Combo
PCI-E installed. That is what's so frustrating. I HAVE HAD it working before
for almost 2 months. When I upgraded my hard drive and reinstalled my WIndows
XP Media Center 2005 is when I started receiving the problems. Also,
reinstalling the cards, etc. I thought I detailed all of this already.
Curious, Media Center asks if you have a analog OR digital conection for
cable. It then gives you an analog or digital channel line-up based on your
entry. That's why I think you have to have a digital subscription to cable in
order to receive the QAM channels.

Curious,
I am afraid that you think baseman has the ATI 650 Pro PCI-E combo tuner and
it appears that he has the older 650 PRO Combo tuner instead
If this is the case then there are several problems first is that the older
card is in fact a Hybrid tuner card and not a Combo tuner card in the true
sense. This means that the two tuners can not be used concurrently and
therefore MC will only allow one of them to be configured.
Also this would mean that in order to configure the ATSC tuner that another
analog tuner would have to be configured on the system first since the user
is running MCE2005 and not Vista.
The above problems do not exist with the 650 PRO PCI-E combo tuner since the
two tuners are independent of each other and appear that way to either Vista
MC or to MCE2005.
It appears that the OP is best off to install the ATI TV application and use
to watch the OTA ATSC digital channels and use MC to watch the analog
channels from his cable connection.
