Re: can't view HD (ATSC) Channels in XP Media Center

Curious,
I am afraid that you think baseman has the ATI 650 Pro PCI-E combo tuner and it appears that he has the older 650 PRO Combo tuner instead
If this is the case then there are several problems first is that the older card is in fact a Hybrid tuner card and not a Combo tuner card in the true sense. This means that the two tuners can not be used concurrently and therefore MC will only allow one of them to be configured.
Also this would mean that in order to configure the ATSC tuner that another analog tuner would have to be configured on the system first since the user is running MCE2005 and not Vista.
The above problems do not exist with the 650 PRO PCI-E combo tuner since the two tuners are independent of each other and appear that way to either Vista MC or to MCE2005.
It appears that the OP is best off to install the ATI TV application and use to watch the OTA ATSC digital channels and use MC to watch the analog channels from his cable connection.

To receive your unencrypted QAM channels you need to use the ATI application you can not get them with MC?

Ok, so even if I don't subscribe to digital cable (only basic) OR have a
cable box (only the cable directly into my tuner card and a powered antenna
into my ATSC input connector for hD channels) I can STILL receive Qam digital
cable channels?
Then, what I thought was right, I don't NEED to have CCC installed in order
to view my chanells. That makes sense because I never HAVE had CCC running
when both my cable and HD channels were working, just Media Center.
So, what you reccommend I use to VIEW my cable digital qam channels, if
possible. I do have Titan TV (just not installed) also I d/l Cyberlink Live
(it's new) today. Thank you for your continued help : )

You receive cable which contains both analog and digital cable signals. It
is the tuner or STB which determines if you get analog or digital channels
or both.
The CCC control center controls the output from your ATI graphics card to
your TV. It has nothing to do with the inputs from your Combo tuner card.
There are no ATSC digital channels available over cable only QAM digital
channels.
To receive ATSC you must have an antenna connected to the ATSC/QAM input
connector on your Combo card.
