Re: can't view HD (ATSC) Channels in XP Media Center

Thanks for responding. I AM watching cable TV though (whcih was also detected
by setup) so I think my decoder is ok. I have always used Power DVD decoder.
I was using 5.0 which was standard on my Dell and then when I got it back
from the shop he had installed 7.0 which I obviously like the software
better. 5.0 wasn't working either when I had it in the shop. Also, When I run
Windows Decoder Checkup this is what I get:

ffdshow Vieo Decoder: MP10 Com-NO ffdshow.ax 1.0.3.1418 MCE Comp-NO
Cyberlink Video/SP Dec: " " -YES CLVsd.ax 6.0.0.3614 " "
-YES
GPL MPEG-1/2 Decoder: " " -NO GplMpgDec.ax 0.1.2.0 " "
-NO
ffdshow raw video filter " " -NO ffdshow.ax 1.0.3.1418 "
" -NO
PP Video Decoder " " -NO ppGenericVSD.ax 6.0.0.33.13 "
-YES
Cyberlink SAC Video Decoder " -YES CLVSD.ax 6.0.0.2122 " "
-YES

I find it weird that no ATI decoders are listed (they were before I upgraded
my hard drive) but then again they always showed not compatible as well. I am
running a ATI Radeon 2400 PRO for my video card and the TV card again is a
ATI TV Wonder 650 Combo with updated drivers. Any other suggestions would be
MUCH appreciated.

Any other suggestions are appreciated.

MCE 2005 runs on top of XP 2002. If you got to MC UI and check general
about MC you will see that you are running MCE2005.
If you have not installed an MCE compatible Decoder on your MCE 2005 system
you will not not be able to watch live TV, Recorded TV or DVDs in MC.

I'm having a problem viewing my local HD channels in Media Center. They
load
fine in setup (signals are also good), but when I try to change to them in
the guide, up pops a black screen and then this error: Application
Failure. A
Critical Media Center process has failed. Please restart your computer and
try again. If the problem persists contact your hardware manufacturer for
further assisstance.
I have contacted them and have not received much help at all. They tell me
it has to be a Media Center problem. Nice. I'm running a TV Wonder 650
Combo
with the latest drivers and Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 with
Service
Pack 3 and .NET Framework 2.0. Although my system properties say it's
Media
Center Edition 2002 which I don't understand either...lol. Any help with
this
problem (and why my OS is identified incorrectly as well) would be MUCH
appreciated. Thanks...
