You can download and run this to test the decoder for MCE compatibility:

I am not familiar with that tuner, but in the original specs for XP MCE, you had to have a hardware (not software) encoder analog card in the system. If you wanted to install a digital card and just use that, you still had to have a compatible analog card. That card is a hybrid card and I am not sure if it has a hardware-based analog tuner to qualify.

Some manufacturers have created software drivers to fool MCE into thinking the analog card was hardware encoding, when in fact, it was actually using a software encoder. Again, not sure about that card.
Jaime, thanks much for the assistance to this point. Apparently what I have installed isn't MCE compatible. Looking back at the CD that came with this tuner card I see that there's something called "MCE Encoder" which IS installed, but I've got a bunch of things listed by that checkup utility program, none of which say Kworld. I THINK my software for this thing is from ARCSOFT because that's who the TotalMedia3 software's from. Here're the MPEG2 Video Decoders it lists:
Roxio MPEG2 Video Decoder (not MCE compat)
ArcSoft MPEG Video Decoder ( ditto)
Roxio SVCD MPEG2 Decoder ( ditto)
The ArcSoft Video Decoder IS listed as both MCE Compatible and Preferred Decoder.
Sooooo it certainly sounds like I need to get hold of a MCE compat MPEG2 decoder from somewhere, but I'm not sure where I should start looking. I'm running Roxio's Suite v7, but have v9 here (10 is the latest), so maybe I'll install v9 and see if that helps. I guess between Roxio, Nero, and Arcsoft I've got a decoder conflict somewhere.
I know what I'll do, I'll boot up in SAFE MODE and try installing that MCE Encoder to see if that'll help. If not I'll try Roxio v9. If that doesn't help, maybe ArcSoft's Web site. Sound like a plan?
Well, I got this gizmo to get an education; I can certainly attest to getting THAT! :-) Any advice?
