Re: Kworld PCI 120 with XP SP3 MCE Loss of Signal

You can download and run this to test the decoder for MCE compatibility:

I am not familiar with that tuner, but in the original specs for XP MCE, you had to have a hardware (not software) encoder analog card in the system. If you wanted to install a digital card and just use that, you still had to have a compatible analog card. That card is a hybrid card and I am not sure if it has a hardware-based analog tuner to qualify.

Some manufacturers have created software drivers to fool MCE into thinking the analog card was hardware encoding, when in fact, it was actually using a software encoder. Again, not sure about that card.

Do you have MCE specific drivers installed? Many times they are not included or updated on the CD that comes with the card, check the web for correct drivers.

Is this the only tuner in the system?

Yes.
Do you have a MCE compatible mpeg decoder installed in the system?
Device Manager shows:
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Microsoft UAA Function Driver for High Definition Audio - Realtek 880.
Video Codecs
I see no mention of MPEG there. If I need to download another driver, where do I look for it? There's no mention of this in the documentation included or on the mfg website http://www.kworldcomputer.com . A quick search on the MS download site doesn't show anything either. Help!
Jaime,
Further info. I recorded 2 min. of video and created a 91 MB MPEG file which I can play back using Nero or Windows Media Player or Real Player or MCE. Does that suggest that I have the required decoder?
