Okay, I checked the CODEC's and one of them: Lead MCMP/MJPEG CODEC (VFW) is
not working properly. The driver is installed but not functioning correctly.
If I click "setting" the following comes up: "Cannot load the Lead
MCMP/MJPEG CODEC (VFW) driver. The driver file may be missing. Try
installing the driver file again or contact the system administrator."
If I remove that CODEC and reboot, will the system reload the driver - one
that works? If not, do you know where I can go to download that driver? Is
there a site I can go to that will have the driver and explain how to
download it and install it? My guess is this driver is my problem.
Thanks for the help....

You can find where all of the Codecs in Windows are..
Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices.
Hardware Tab. Select the Video Codecs devices. Click Properties button.
Properties tab. Select each codec in turn, click the properties button. You
will get a report if the Codec is working.
You can also remove a Codec here. Select a Codec, Click the remove button.

Thanks for the info. However, do you know how to address the problem? Is
there a way to diagnose what DECODER is causing the problem and remove it?
I've never had to remove a DECODER, nor have I experience any problems
with
CODEC's. All of the various versions of Media Player have always just
worked, until now? I reloaded Media Player 11 again and the problem has
not
been fixed.
I appreciate any help/advise you can provide.

Since a DVD will play in MC there is not problem with your MC compatible
MPEG2 decoder or with you graphics card and its drivers the problem is
that
for some reason you have lost the decoder that was being used by Media
Player to play your video clips.
It would be very strange for an update to your graphics card drivers to
cause this problem. More likely would be the installation of some other
decoders as part of a CODEC package being defaulted to in Media Player.

A DVD will play but it doesn't appear to be in Media Player. The
typical
controls are not there. It looks like it's playing in a defaut player
mode,
if that make any sense?

When I play any video clip, I get no video. The audio is fine but
no
video,
the screen is black. I get no error messages or codec issues? The
player
has worked fine for over a year. I downloaded and reinstalled Media
Player
11 but that didn't solve the problem. I then removed player 11 and
installed
player 10 and it didn't work either, same problem. About a week ago
I
downloaded new video drivers for my ATI card but I've been doing
that
for
over a year without a problem.
Does anyone know whats going on and how to fix the problem? I'm out
of
ideas???
