the Media Center logs in Event viewer would be the ones with
specific error code numbers.
do you by chance have a fingerprint reader on this PC?
what is the status of UAC? is remote desktop enabled?

When the error message appears on the 360, and I choose cancel, the
following events are logged:
1000: PnP-X IP Bus Enumerator, network device Provider
\Microsoft.Networking.SSDP was successfully added.
1004: PnP-X IP Bus Enumerator, parent network device was successfully
removed.
I'm getting these logs by creating a custom view of events logged in
the last hour, including all event levels, from the Windows Logs and
the Applications and Services Logs. Is it possible I'm missing
something else that I should be looking at to find these events?

mobsync.exe is the offline files sync program. should not be related
to this. again, can you go to control panel, administrative tools,
even viewer and look at the various logs right after you try to
connect?
