Microsoft will never make a public list of what will be in the next release of Media Center. There could be issues with hardware, software/drivers or even legal hurdles to overcome to get a particular feature out to market. Miss a milestone on any of these, and it jeopardizes the feature being in the final product.
Beta programs are now administered through http://connect.microsoft.com. Whether you require an invitation to a particular beta, or if they're open to the general public depends on the beta. You'll need a Windows Live ID to sign in and see what the options are for any given beta.

Thanks for the reply. I am just worried, as I'm sure like many other
"community"-members are, that the fixes and additional functionality (=major
missed out in current version, as you can tell from the many common themes in
this forum), might miss the boat for some reason. Surprised that MS doesn't
publish in advance to a forum like this, what will be included to avoid many
disappointed customers again. When is the beta version coming out and can you
sign up for that?
