Use the following utility to insure that MC is using the MSMPEG2 decoder that comes with Vista.

I'm running vista.
Check disk did not find any problems.
I have no other DVD players on this system, but I have DVD Decoder, Burn
Aware, Daemon tools and WinISO which are all DVD related. I dont think I've
got any MC compatible software.

Are you running MCE2005 or VistaMC?
Have you installed any other DVD player programs such a Nero?
What MCE compatible DVD Decoder software are you using?
Have you run Check disk on your system to confirm that your MC software has
not been corrupted?
