Re: video file organization

MCE recognizes dvr-ms as TV Shows, so I see 2 choices.
You can use a 3rd party application to convert your files to dvr-ms which would have a negative impact on quality or you can add the files to the MCE Video Library in their current format. An exception seems to be divx. See this for more info:

Perhaps I was unclear. I have video files from my own DVDs that I backed up
onto my own HDD. These files are sitting in avi, mpeg, or divx format,
depending on when I did it, and what my HDD size was at the time. These
files have no metadata attached to them, because that is not inherent in
their formats, like with mp3, which has id3. Some of these DVDs were TV
shows. I would like Media Center to recognize them as TV Shows, and organize
them according to TV series, season, and episode, like my music can be
organized by artist, album, and track. My question and suggestion remains -
I would like a way to tag these files so that Media Center can organize them
like my music library is organized. This can't be a very difficult problem
to solve. We can do this kind of organized sorting with music, why not with
videos?

If you don't have a Recorded TV folder why did you ask about "tv show,
season, episode, guest star, etc."?

In any event, my answer applies to any folder "Watched" or otherwise.
