To answer the other questions, I only have one ethernet cable going into my
PC. That ethernet cable goes to a wall outlet. The wall outlet has an adapter
that goes from Female (to accept the cable from the PC) to male at the other
end of approximately 20 feet of cat 5 cable connected into my Actiontec
router. The router also has my xbox wired the exact same way with the same
wall outlet. I bought the wall outlets at Lowes and followed the directions
on the package exactly. I have double checked the wiring and I know the PC
and xbox are wired exactly the same. I figured it was wired correctly since I
have no other issues with connecting to the internet.

I don't know how I can tell you what the 8TW58 shared connection is. It just
says that under where it says it is the LAN connection just like this:

Local Area Connection
8TW58, Shared
Intel(R) 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection

That is under the Control panel > Network connections

The only thing I can think of is it is shared with my old computer that is
in the basement. I don't have the ethernet cables hooked into it at all but
it is on the network when I start it up and plug in the cables. Could this be
causing all the issues? The fact that the other computer was wired from the
begining and this one was wireless made the old one the original on the
network?

If this is the case, how can I remove the old computer from the network,
restart the network from this computer and then add the old one to this
computers new network? After getting the Xbox to work that is?

Maybe that is the hangup? could there be a conflict since the old computer
uses xp and this one has vista?

I have another wired/wireless router that a friend gave me because he had an
idea. It's a linksys WRT54GS v1.1.
Here is the question:
Can I set up a one router next to the computer and plug the ethernet cable
from the other router into it and then connect wirelessly to the new router
so that the wireless connection would be stronger since it would have a
wireless connection right next to it? I haven't tried it yet and I will wait
for your response before trying. It was just a thought. My friend had it just
sitting around and thought maybe I could use it.

My main problem is my original wireless router is now in the basement with
everything wired and it is a real pain to re-run wires thoughout my house
just to set it next to my PC to make a wireless connection.

The LAN is not bridged to anything else and neither is the Wireless.

Sorry if I am not following something. I think you just misunderstood me. I
was only asking about bridging because I didn't understand what that was and
I thought it was another possibility.

I really am new at all of this and I am learning quite a bit as I have tried

missing some information. if this output is what resulted from
ipconfig /all, you need to go into device manager, delete the NICs,
shut down and reboot so that they are redetected.
