Hi,
My computer was working fine and then the next time I tried to turn on the
computer I got the following message:
"Windows could not start up because the following file is missing or corrupt
\WINDOWS\SYSTE32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the
original setup CD ROM"
The computer can not even start up in safe mode now.
I realise that Microsoft never released Media Centre as a independant retail
version, so I am not sure what Setup CD ROM this message means.
I have found on the internet that if I had the Setup CD then I could do a
'repair install' instead of having to reformat.
My computer's hardrive is ok. I ran a diagnostics and it said that the hard
drive is ok but I am unable to access it as Windows is not operational.
Can anyone offer any help?
Thanks,
Crystal
.
