Re: Media Guide won't download

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Yes, unfortunately I have. The only thing they are good for is telling me to
reformat my hard-drive. That seems to be their suggestion for all problems
including why my computer won't automatically go into sleep or hiberate modes
automatically.

I appreciate your help, and if I ever figure this out, I'll post it out
there so hopefully others can figure it out as well.

Chris,

Sorry but I'm running out of suggestions.

Have you contacted HP support?

Consider this: Whenever a new error condition appears on your computer, it
is almost certain that there was some change to the computer soon before the
problem began. http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

Gave that a whirl too. Seems very strange. When I go tune a station, I
receive the following error message:

A critical Windows Media Center process has failed. Please restart the
computer and try again. If the problem persists, contact your hardware
manufacturer for assistance.

Thanks for your help.

Try this:

Go to your OEM's or video card manufacturer's website and get the latest
video card driver.

I removed the device and driver software, and setup the card from
scratch
after rebooting and allowing it to reinstall. No joy. I just sits at
the
downlonading screen with 0% forever.

Any other ideas? i also tried renaming the folder where the downloaded
data
is stored and tried it from a different logon just to check if the user
data
was messed up.

Thanks for your help.

In Device Manager uninstall the tuner. Reboot and let it reinstall.

Around the first of the year, my computer stopped downloading the
Media
Guide. The icon is displayed by the clock, but it gets stuck at 0%.
At
the
time this started happening, I wasn't even using the TV Tuner card
(HP
PCI
Express). If I open Media Center to the Guide, it gives me an error
telling
me to reboot the computer and try again. I can watch TV, but it will
not
let
me record anything.

Help would be greatly appreciated. The computer is a HP laptop, and
all
I
have is the restore disk. I'd prefer not to redo the computer back
to
the
factory settings if possible.

Thanks All!
