Hello,
I would like to run Vista MCE on my machine but have some requirements
that I am not sure allow me to do this. I have run MCE 05 a year or
more ago and liked it a lot. Here is what I am looking for:
-Record TV
-Watch movies through mounting of images or simple copies of vob's,
etc to folder (My Movies)
-store and view photos
-listen and store music
-UI that allows me to do these things via my couch and that my wife
can run
-EPG for all of my Over the Air Digital broadcasts(I know when i test
out Vista MCE the guide could only locate half of the channels.
Others like beyondtv work great. Has this been fixed in Vista MCE?)
-I would like a nice easy to use interface out to the web to allow me
to view, upload, and maintain my machine remotely. (Windows Home
Server type interface)
I know I can do the first few by simply installing Vista on my
machine, but how do i get the last one? Ideally if i could install
MCE on WHS that would be slick and I think accoumplish all of these
but i know that is not possible at this point.
I guess my question is, are there any tools with a slick interface
similar to WHS that I could install on my Vista machine that would
allow the remote access features I am looking for? Or, should I
install WHS and look for another Media Center/DVR type app such as
BeyondTV?
Thanks for the help.
