himshah, I am having the exact problem. I went through all these steps and
still I have the problem. I may just go back to XP from Vista as Vista has
given me nothing but a headache.

I tried all the steps you listed. I still get the error code 14. Any idea
why. I can go to zap2it.com website. I am behing firewall but we had it all
setup and working fine. It is very frustrating with XPMC. Why can't they have
simple website connection.

Usually code 14 is a provider error, so trying again later is usually the
way to go. However, since you've had this problem for a while, it's
probably unlikely.

Common guide issues are caused by one of the following (some if not all of
which you have already tried):

1. Date/Time is incorrect. Make sure these are correct for your location
2. Timezone is incorrect. Make sure this is correct.
3. Hardware/software firewalls blocking the access; temporarily shut off
the firewalls to test.
4. Corrupted guide files; make a backup of the C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\EPG folder and then
delete the contents and re-run the guide setup wizard.
5. If you are in North America, make sure that you can access the guide
from zap2it.com by entering your ZIP/Postal code.

Let me know if you have tried all of these.

Good luck.

Hi,

I am having a problem when trying to set up my Media Centre. In essence
when I try to download TV listings I get the error message "Unknown
discovery service error. Code 14".

I have attempted a registry hack detailed on another forum but to no avail
and I have also re-attempted the Listings download on 50+ occassions over
that last 24 hours.

I have tried both tweaking and temporarily disabling the Firewall on my
Wireless Router (Linksys) and my Media Centre (Running McAfee Internet
Security) again with no results.

If anyone could help I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Jason
