I have an ati all in wonder and the drivers are up to date so that's
not the problem. Plus I keep on getting the same message as the others
on this post at start up Windows Media Center Receiver Service Stopped
Working so is has to be media center. So I either want to reinstall
that or the mp2 codecs like Kevin did. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Curious!

I am having the same problem. I am running Vista home premium but not
an upgrade. I get the same error message then I also get an error
message that MCE can't find my Tuner. How to I reinstall just the MCE
Files or the MPEG2(msmpeg2vdec.dll) decoder (Or maybe the video
codecs?)?
Thanks!

I did have Nero 8 and removed it. Does Nero overwrite the MCE files?
After
reinstalling the MCE Files it working.

gortambatman,
Some versions of Nero have caused lots of problems with Vista decoders
by
replacing key decoder files with their own that do not get removed when
you
remove Nero. Regretfully I don't know how to recover from the Nero
caused
problems but hopefully others seeing this thread do.

Had same problem was on phone with Microsoft for 2 hours.... The
FIX...
Windows Vista does not have the MCE MPEG decoder built in. Get it
from
your
Tuner card CD (must Likely in a service pack, or Utility Directory)
or
download from your Tuner Card vender.

Key Points
* I upgraded from Windows XP Media Center 2005 to Windows Vista Home
Premium.
* My TV Card worked fine with Windows XP and with XP Media Center.
* My Tuner card still works fine with third party software such as
Hauppauge
WinTV and Nero.
* It appears to be working normally in Device Manager.
* My PC Is a Dell Dimension 5150, Duel Core Intel Pentium D 3GHz
processors,
1GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1300 512MB Video Card.
* PC came with the 'Vista Capable Sticker' and video card is 'Vista
Compatible'.
Driver info & Video card info:
* Video card: Hauppauge PVR-150 TV Tuner
* Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (26xxx)
* Date: 8/01/2007
* Version: 6.0.6000.16408
Possible conflicting software:
* Nero 7
* McAfee Security Center
* DivX
* CyberLink PowerDVD
* Real Player
* Quick Time
* Hauppauge WinTV
* ATI Catalyst Control Center.
What I have tried
* Uninstalling/running cleaning software of all of Hauppauge
software and
drivers then re-installing them.
* Running a check on all system files for problems.
Lets hope there is something in Vista SP1 to fix this common problem
with
Vista's new and unimproved Media Center? How can newer versions of
software
be worse?
P.S. I can't submit this to Microsoft because my support feature has
run
out! I didn't know I would get such short online technical support,
I've
been left stranded.
P.P.S. does any one know if there is going to be or if there are
plans
for a
Service Pack, beta or new version of Vista Media Center coming?
Because
it
needs to be done!
Vista Media Center = Brilliant idea/Crap Software.
