I had this. It was OK, then "all of a sudden", it disappeared. Same with
the warning when you tried to turn off the computer (Media Center is
recording etc etc).
Having recently messed around with the computer's security settings, prior
to this mysterious event, I tried undoing a few of the changes I had made.
It worked! The most likely suspect is, I think, User Account Control as it
limits what the PC can do without your input. I had turned it off when I was
installing a lot of software a while back and only recently turned it back
on. Try turning it off (Control Panel--->User Accounts...--->User Accounts),
and rebooting.
If that doesn't work, I did some other things that may have made a
difference. I disabled Windows Defender from automatically scanning, turned
off Windows Firewall (I have Norton).
If I'm right and UAC is to blame, then I think MS need to address this with
something in the knowledge base, which was the first place I tried for an
answer. I have spent ages trawling the 'net for an answer to this, and all I
have discovered is that you and I are not the only sufferers.
Anyhow, hope that helps.

I no longer have the little red icon in the task tray when I am recording or.
have a recording scheduled. I have the option checked to show the task tray
and can't find any way to restore this. Has anyone who has this problem
found a solution? Thanks!
