Re: CONVERT DVR-MS to SMALL FORMAT & HOW TO BURN

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Look into DVR2WMV, or similar programs. Some are free and others aren't. Several will convert to WMV, AVI and other formats. The resulting size will depend on the settings you use for "quality" of the converted video. A two hour movie will still fill up a DVD if you burn it as a DVD, but can be as small as 700 Megs or so, if you copy it to disk in the converted format.

Members:

As far as I know, I now have all the right stuff for Media Center (2005) to
work: Sonic Encoders (are now there - where missing); Sonic Cineplayer (I
gather that this is the burn plug-in that is compt. with MCE); NVIDIA Pure
Video Decoders Gold (had a problem with existing decoders not playing MPEG-2
video & MCE would crash to a blue screen). Am I missing anything?

I have and can record from TV and burned a movie (2 hours) from Media Center
(took about 3-4 hours to convert and burn). Is it suppose to take this long?

The dvr-ms files are too big - space (even with 2). Would like to convert
the size/format and to 'burn' to a disk to view on my TV which is not hooked
up to Media Center. How do I do this?

Once it is in a smaller format (e.g. wmv), do you burn it in Media Center or
take the new video file and burn it on to disk using a different program,
e.g. Nero, Sonic Cineplayer or other (suggest)?

Will it fit onto a DVD-+R disk? And will it be playable in a DVD player?

Need some guidance and direction.

Thanks, Happy New Year 2008,
