Your complaints/rant would probably get more response sending directly to MS, rather than posting them on a public user's newsgroup.

I have the EXACT SAME problem and it occurs EVERY TIME I try to run Media
Center.. as well as it's auto updates/downloads...
Win32 GetLastError returned 10000105
generally the <EventData> includes :
<Data>Event Info: ERROR: SqmApiWrapper.TimerRecord failed; Win32
GetLastError returned 10000105 Process: DefaultDomain Object Name: Media
Center Guide</Data>
This is just unacceptable.. as well as the HUGE slew of other Vista
Application failures that I see every day (and I'm completely UTD and
patched..)..
Every day I have at least a dozen or so Source: "Application Error"
EventID: 1000 Task Category (100) FAILURES !! .. from Media Center, Firefox
dying, Screen Saver, McAfee Security Center, etc.. etc.. (lots of
application failures on Vista Premium.. on a brand new GateWay Quad core
Intel system.. 3GB RAM, etc.. etc.. FULLY patched).
Can SOMEONE please get a Microsoft Manager to FIX THESE ISSUES !??? Support
has been USELESS.. Unfortunately, I'm very close to nuking all our laptops
recently purchased with Vista and mandate that all are wiped clean and
installed with Solaris x86.. since Solaris NEVER reboots or has application
faults cause system outages !!.. MICROSOFT, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER !!.. and
come clean with a Service Pack for Vista !!.. and fix these issues.. WE'RE
FED UP as are MILLIONS of your users !!.. Please help.. or another thousand
customers/systems gone from your herrum.

In short, when I start Vista MCE from either the Start Menu or from the
Remote Control, Media Center immediately crashes.
Event Info: ERROR: SqmApiWrapper.TimerRecord failed; Win32 GetLastError
returned 10000105
Process: DefaultDomain
Object Name: Media Center Guide
This was shortly after I installed KB932818 - which was supposed to be a
Cumulative Update - last night.
Windows Media Center Service Launcher does start at boot, but then stops
shortly after.
Tried to remove all files from C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome - once
removed, the folders are immediately re-populated.
DVR-MS Videos can be watched via Media Center - when launched, the video
files automatically bring-up MCE and will play. When using the MCE Remote or
clicking on the "Back" button with your mouse-pointer crashes MCE
What I'd like to do is see if I can uninstal or repair the MCE bits, or how
to nuke the existing Guide - since it appears that the Guide is what's
causing MCE to crash
Any ideas would be appreciated!
