Restart your machine and during booting you will get the option to press a specific key (like F10/F11 etc for recovering or restoring). You have to press that particular key on your keyboard immediately.

I did not get CD's with my system but I believe there is a restore (reinstall) of the operating system on the D drive. Is there some way I can use that?

Generally the installation disk comes with two CDs,and the second one is needed at this prompt.
If nothing is there then you should either contact the vendor or,you can buy the OS separately (there are many;NewEgg.com and others...).

I have searched this site and found a couple of posts that have the same problem as I have. When I'm in Media Center and try to burn DVDs it gives me a message saying "can't fine burnewr". Outside Media Center my other disk writing software that came with my computers burns DVD fine. So I attempted to follow the suggestions and wnet into Add/Remove programs/Windows components and tried to uninstall and reinstall that software. It uninstalls fine but to reinstall I need a disk with "authorscript" on it. No disk came with my computer and I searched the D drive but could not fine it there.
How can I reinstall this Windows component?
