Hello "masitcgitw":
I wonder if your problem is caused by having installed the wrong drivers
for Media Center. Most of the graphics cards offer drivers for both XP "AND"
for XP Media Center 2005. If the installation cd has the XP drivers and not
the Media Center drivers that might cause the problem. Both nVidia and AMD
(ATI) offer recent drivers compatible for Media Center 2005. They also have
very specific instructions on "uninstalling" the current drivers to avoid a
corrupted install. If you have the right drivers already, I'm guessing the
operating system installation might not have worked correctly. Installation
of the Media Center 2005 O.S. can be a bit confusing because they have you
switching to one CD and then back to the first and it is easy to leave out a
step. Good luck!

I've just built a new computer. I have a fresh install of XP MCE. When I.
first installed Windows, everything worked fine. The next day however, I was
unable to access Media Center. When I would click on it, it just goes to a
black screen, but you can hear all of the sounds that play as you run your
mouse over the options like My TV and all that stuff. I did a windows
repair, and everything worked fine again. Now this morning, it's back to not
showing anything. Once again, I know it is actually starting Media Center,
because I can hear the normal sounds, but it will only show a black screen.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
