I was hooked up to the internet (dsl) and then a window poped up
that
says this copy of windows must be activated with Microsoft before
you
can log on. do you want to activate windows now? and you click yes
it
goes right back to the log on window where your name goes with the
little picture. and if you click on it it goes right back to the box
that says "this copy of windows must be
activated.........................................) that is all it
will do. it is frozen there. I called microsoft and they tell me to
go to the activation window and they will help me do it but you
can't
go to the activation window. it is just frozen at the log on window.
Can anyone help.??
This was IIRC a known problem with one release of XP--the only fixes I
know of are to do a clean install (like from a reformatted disk) or
install from a CD with the latest service pack slipstreamed. The
problem is that if you don't have a working machine with a burner you
can't make a slipstreamed CD.
