OP, out of curiosity, can you get to a cached version of the page by using a
search engine?
Go to google (or whoever) and search for elfyourself.com, then try going to
it by clicking on the "cached" page link instead of the normal link.

I was not referring to the IP addressee. I had previously thought that the
MAC addressee was also capable of being tracked by Internet providers but I
guess I was wrong.
Jason and Jamie do either of you have any other thoughts as to how the
Up's specific Laptop could be being blocked from even a ping?

and, to add to Jason's thoughts, if you mean the IP address (which is
seen at the other end and can be blocked), that still wouldn't apply,
since the IP would be different when connecting at home versus at work.

While every computer's network interface has a MAC address, sites
external to your network (i.e. the internet) won't ever see your MAC
address at all.

Every computer has a unique MIC address and it sounds like the site you
are trying to get to has your laptop's address blocked with its Spam
blocker;

Yes, I AM using a laptop that I use both at home and work. I do not
have
another computer at home to test with. BUT, on the work network there
were
four other computers that were able to get to the site fine. I'm 100%
sure
it is a client issue and not a network or server issue. It is unique
to this
laptop. Having said that, it has me completely baffled to what it
could be.

If yes can you get to the site from another computer on your home
network?

This isn't really an IE issue but definitely a client issue.
Today's
water
cooler topic at the office was www.elfyourself.com. Everyone
around the
office is able to get to this URL but me. I have even gone as far
as to
come
home on my home network and try but still no success. I have no
trouble
getting to any other sites except this one. When I do ping tests,
I am
able
to receive responses from all other sites but no response from this
one
(whether I use DNS name or IP). So since it doesn't respond,
clearly I
can't
get in to the site with IE or Firefox. There are no bogus entries
in my
HOSTS or LMHOSTS. I've released/renewed a number of times. What
gives?
