If you had stated that a standard DVD "player" will not output HD I agree.
But standard DVD media can and has been used to distribute HD video.

That doesn't have anything to do with playing on a standard DVD player,
that is has to do with playing using Media Player on a PC.

It certainly will you just need the proper software to play the files.
You can't play HD DVD or BD disc on a standard DVD drive but that a
mechanical issue red lasers can't read the disc.
Have you heard of WMV HD

Good question. The uncompressed/barely compressed way that Pinnacle
software
burns HD-DVD (AVI. Bundled) video files onto a regular DVD-RW is above
my
knowledge. However, you are correct, more discs are needed. However, Do
you
want to pay $25.00 or .75 cents?

If they are not converted, how does a standard DVD reader see them? Do
you
just end up multiple discs for one movie?

No. The Pinnacle Studio 11.1 software is designed to use regular
DVD-RW
(R)
single and dual layered to have HD-DVD and AVCHD video files burned
onto
them. It is the first software in the world like it. There is no
down-conversion. The files are uncompressed HD and AVCHD Bluray.

I think OP is saying that Pinnacle Studio is supposed to
down-convert
the
content, like making a DVD into a SVCD.

I wonder: perhaps PS is in fact burning HD files to the DVD, but
possibly the OP's player can't play that.
Obviously just speculation on my part...
