Re: Media Center Crash - ehshell.exe

yes...let me agree...I HAVE VISTA, and im unable to uninstall .net framework,
and i too, have looked all over for a fix, and im in the middle of an email
game of tag with HP tech support. The best thing theyve told me so far is to
do a system recovery, but of course, that doesnt even work...i swore to
myself 10 years ago id never own another HP, and i finally remembered why,
they give you no installation discs. Now, while their tech support have been
helpful and fast with their responses, i dont think theyre quite getting it,
i keep being told to go into MCE and do the setup, after telling them twice
that starting the program is what causes the error, i think they understand
now, ill keep watching this forum to see if anyone comes up with a fix, or if
HP comes up with one, ill forward it here

Well,

It might be a viable solution for those individuals with the WinXP MC
edition, but as far as a fix for the Vista version of WMC, it doesn't work.

I'm still baffled, and I still get the same errors. I've looked on other
forums, and it seems as if there are some other individuals with the same
problem, but as of yet, no actual solutions have been posted.

*sigh*

Hi,

I've had the same problem a few days ago, and I've fixed it by:

1. Going to Control Panel\Add or Remove Programs, and look for Windows
XP Media Center Edition 2005\Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
*KB925766*, click on _Click_here_for_support_information_

2. Click on the link from the popup window, it will lead you to a page
where you can download and reinstall the October 2006 Update Rollup for
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (KB925766).

Or you can just go straight to the download page by the URL:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=8a2e5868-c2b9...31-b08e

3. Restart your computer.

This fixed the problem for me, so I hope it'll do the same for you.
