Re: Remote Won't Activate Media Center

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

I found the answer to this issue - The Green Start button on the MCE remote
won't activate MCE. Hopefully others will benefit from this.

Why doesn't the green button on my remote work until I launch Media Center
manually?

When I use my Microsoft Remote Control and click on the button to turn on
Media Center, nothing happens. It was working before and just replaced the
batteries just in case.

I've also tried uninstalling he e-home drivers, unplugging the receiver
and
then poweroff the PC. Then replugging the receiver and rebooting up again.
Same thing.

If I click on the shortcut on the Desktop, it goes into the Media Center
and
then the remote control works fine. If I click on the Media Center button
on
the remote, then it will access the Media Center. However if i turn the PC
off and back on, then click on the button, nothing happens again.

Any suggestions, firewall, something?

Thanks!

Try reloading the remote control driver in Device Manager.

Open Device Manager find the Human Interface Drivers branch, click the (+).
Remove Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver.

Reboot the computer.
The driver will be reloaded from dll cache.
