Re: Logon Login Trouble with Win XP on Monday...

If you can get access to another Administrator level user account, you can reset the password for your normal account from there. Control Panel, User Accounts. Note, you will lose any stored passwords (internet and the like) from your normal user profile.

If you're running XP Pro, press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the logon screen with no users logged on. Enter Administrator and any password you may have set for the built-in Administrator account. If you're not sure, leave the password blank. For XP Home you must boot into Safe Mode to access the built-in Administrator account.

I use Win XP Pro on 3 seperate computers.

I did something really stupid yesterday... In trying to get rid of the
annoying logon screen that appears everytime I start 2 of my computers, I
looked online for a solution and found what I thought would work...

I went to Start, Run, control userpasswords2, and unchecked the box that
says Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. After
clicking on Apply, another box comes up asking for a password. I typed an
easy one for me to remember. Now, today, I cannot get to my desktop. Windows
will not allow me past the Logon screen.

I know this is a touchy subject, for security reasons. But I never setup my
system to use login screens in the first place. They just appeared one day.
It is annoying for me to have this step, so I want to get rid of it... I want
to turn my system ON and then walk away till it finishes starting up.

Can anyone help me get back to my desktop? I am in a desperate situation in
a small business.

Thanks for any response.
Clint

P.S. I followed the Ctrl, Alt, Del at the welcome screen and got into a
completely new desktop. But I need MY desktop really bad!
