What is the cable that you need to connect the laptop to the TV to get audio called?

An "audio cable", oddly enough.

What slot on the laptop

"Audio out", oddly enough - usually it's a mini (i.e. 3mm or 1/8") stereo jack. Surely you have a manual for your computer.

and TV does it fit into?

"Audio in", oddly enough. Usually two RCA (in Britain, cinch) jacks colored red and white to match the cable ends. Surely you have a manual for your TV.

We call them 'Phono' plugs actually.

If the OP were in England, he'd also need to know somthing about the dark mystery (to me, anyway) called SCART...
