Re: The channel changes on the tv, but not on the computer

What channel is your STB set output its TV out connection to? In North America the options are Channel 3 or 4. I have been told that in Europe channel 36 is used for TV output from STBs and VCRs but do not know if this is true.
The use of this technique started with the first VCRs. Since in the US no city has both a channel 3 and a channel 4 TV station. The output from the VCR could be set to the channel that did not exist locally and therefore could be easily selected by an NTSC tuner without interfering with an existing local station.
There is normally a switch next to the TV out connection on the STB or VCR that the user makes to choose between 3 and 4.

I understand what your saying. What I don't understand is why after the MCE
changes the channel on the set top box that the only video it displays is the
channel that the internal tuner of the MCE is set to. IE: 3 0r 4 or
whatever??? It is not passing the video through that the set top box is tuned
to.??

No, MCE can control a set top box. The internal tuner is set to channel 3
or 4, based on your cable box's output.
