Sounds to me like an issue with the audio levels on the Hauppauge tuner card. Without going into detail, take a look at the registry tweaks here: http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/pvr_reg.html
I would guess that you're running into some annoyances with automatic gain control, so try switching that setting first and see if that helps.
While typing this, I just noticed the exact same issues with my recording of "On The Lot" season finale. I'm using an ATI Theater 550 based card myself.

The soundcard is built-in. If I turn the volume down while it is recording it still does it; of course, it's just quieter that way..

If you are watching the recorded show does it also happen if you turn the sound way down in MC?
Do you have a separate sound card in your system or are the sound outlets connected to your Motherboard?

It almost seems like the computer is fading out the sound whenever it is
oversaturated.
As for the set up, it doesn't matter if I am watching the recording live, or
later, it happens the same. It only happens on one particular program with a
lot of loud music and cheering. I checked the straight broadcast (hooked
directly to the TV) and it is not the broadcast. It has something to do with
the computer. If I want to mess with the audio drivers, where do you suggest
I start?
By the way, I appreciate you helping me.

I am still not sure of your problem scenario.
Case 1. You concurrently record and watch on program and record a second
program. And the problem occurs with the program you are watching and
recording. And later if you watch the recording of the program that had the
program it still has the problem.
Case 2. You concurrently record two programs without watching either and
later when you watch the programs one of them has the problem and the other
does not.
The problem appears to be related to the audio volume.
Are you using just standard sound and audio.
Have you checked to make sure your audio drivers are up to date?
What Decoder are you using?

When people are just speaking, it doesn't seem to be doing it. But then
when
the croud cheers or there is loud music it starts up again.

With the little amount of data on your system that you provided it is
extremely hard to provide any meaningful help. However, it appears that
one
of your 150 cards is having an IR
Q conflict or some other priority problem when both are recording. You
can
try changing the slots the cards are in.
When the recordings are completed does the show with the problem
consistently have the stuttering problem in the same place? If yes then
it
indicates that the recording itself is where the problem is occurring.

I have WMC 2005 running with two Hauppauge 150 tuner cards. I am
recording
two shows at the same time. They are both being recorded right now. One
show
looks and sound perfect when I try to play it, but the other has the
sound
stuttering. It's not exactly that the sound cuts out totally, it just
seems
to fade in and out rapidly and inconsistently. Does anyone have an idea
of
what could be causing this? Thanks.
