Re: tv recordings -corrupt or missing files

It is possible you have those files in a hidden partition on your Hard drive. If you have a Dell, It is almost guaranteed to be on the computer.

You can see if there is a hidden partition in Computer Management.
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.
It is on the Storage branch > Disk Management.

What about creating the CD from the hidden partition?

The Manufacturer is supposed to provide a way of creating the CDs or at least restoring the system to factory specs.

You can contact your computer manufacturer for the restore CDs you are entitled to. And/or the instructions to create the CDs.

As you said -since I don't have the cd's, I am out of luck -I did run the
scan anyway and at the end -I was instructed to insert windows xp
professional cd #2 for dll cache. So there must be something needed there.
I just wonder why the tv recording is the only thing affected -thank you for
your help. Els

Try in Windows XP (close Media Center).

At the the prompt type sfc /scannow [Enter]

That is a space between 'c' and '/'.

You must have the Media Center OEM installation CDs (two).
That command will scan your system for missing, corrupt files, and changed
files.

To get help on the command type sfc /? at the command prompt.
If you do not have the CDs, you are out of luck.
