Hi,
I'm using Vista Mediacenter and I can't reeally figure out how I can cofigure
the best power options in Vista. I can configure it in "sleep" (I think thats
the name, I use swedish version). In this mode I can turn on/of the machine
but it still make pritty much nois. SO, I tryed to change the power option to
the next one (don't have the name), here I can turn off the machine, but not
on.

Does anyone have a guide on how to configure Vosta Mediacenter in the best
way - I was hoping this was done from MS, but its not.

PS! I also would liek the machine to start and stop if I have a scheduled
recording.

In English, the mode called "sleep" is also called "standby", I
believe. I don't know whether this will help you in reading the Swedish
documents.

There is also a mode called "hibernate" (what bears do in the winter;
lemmings too, maybe?). In this mode, the current memory state is copied
to a special file on the hard drive and the computer does something
like sleep, but with the memory not powered, and some other circuits
powered off as well.

I am told that the computer can awaken from hibernate (but slowly, as
it reads the hard drive to restore the state of memory). However, I
*know* it can awaken from standby - I've done that for recording TV.

It can *not* awaken from power off, as stated by CSM1.

Hibernate is different with portable & desktop PCs. On a laptop Hibernate is a complete power-off
with memory contents written to disk for rapid reload. On a standard PC Hibernate does write memory
contents to disk for rapid reload but there is minimal power to the motherboard sufficient for Wake
on LAN & other similar events. In Standby the memory contents are not written to disk but the memory
remains powered for rapid restart.
