You cannot convert SD or HD component video to SD composite you would need a
transcoder which is expensive.
Are your sure TV has component out and not just component in?
You can get a USB HDTV tuner for your laptop which will enable you to
receive your local OTA HD digital stations.

My laptop's built-in tuner is NTSC, which gives an extremely grainy

when hooked up to the HD antenna. So, I use the composite in-port to
record
TV programs from my TV’s HD tuner, which has both component-out and
composite-out. My computer only has a composite-in port, which produces a
blurry picture when the camera is in motion.
Two questions: 1) If I get a cable that has a red-green-blue component
connectors on one end and a mini-plug on the other to go into the
composite-in port, will I get a better picture? 2) Are there any computers
that have a built-in HD tuner?
