It could be hardware failures. Any hardware - drives, memory, motherboard, video or sound card, ...
Do you get the same error number each time you boot to a particular startup (such as each time your go to START WINDOWS NORMALLY)? If yes it might be software, if not, it might be hardware.
The Windows CD problem might be related to having a hardware problem, but note that installing Windows can seem to hang forever. I can't find it in my notes, but I recall once, after half an hour, deciding it had hung and I reached to shut it down - and at that second it came back to life again! Later that day I decided to wait longer before giving up, and by golly, it came back to life eventually.

Hey Doug, as afar as error codes...this is what i am getting AFTER trying to boot ,
when hitting SAFE MODE: blue screen with error code is as follow:
1. Check with hardware vendor for BIOS UPDATES, Disable Bios Memory options such as.....caching or shadowing
when hitting START WINDOWS NORMALLY:
blue screen PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
STOP 0X00000050 (0XE22CD050, 0X00000001, 0X80567BBD, 0X00000002)
When trying to boot XP CD Windows Setup:
blue screen DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP 0X000000D1(0X81FEA0CC, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0XF99845B6)
at bottom of that it says:
ACPI.SYS Address F99845B6 Base at F9971000, Datestamp 3d6dd69F
I am trying to record everything as far as the error codes goes for you. What should I do when I boot from XP CD, it says its setting up windows and then still sort of just being froze???

EDITION" SERVICE PACK 2?? I have been having problems with my pc basically
rebooting. I called a pc tech to evaluate my pc and he can't get past the
blue screens with several different error codes. He told me, "pretty bad if
you can't even get Windows to boot!" He had no other recommendations and
LUCKILY, I was not charged for him to try to "fix" pc!! However, in general,
this is what it seems to bve doing...the advanced mode is showing on screen
after turning it on. The black screen with multiple options which I may not
have it listed in the EXACT ORDER, but such as..
1. Safe Mode
2. Safe Mode with Networking
3. Enable VGA Mode
4. Enable Debugging
5. Last Known Good Configuration
6. Start Windows Normally with the countdown as its waiting
It seems to just freeze when clicking on any of these options.....ANY HELP
or FEEDBACK would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS to ALL WHO MAY HELP ME!!!
