Hi Ric,

If there are any Norton applications installed that utilize the Symantec
Resource Protection feature, System Restore will fail to restore in normal
mode.
You will find alternative anti virus applications on the following page
that will not cause System Restore or fail.

If you are using any Norton product then disable that prior to system
restore and enable it again after the completion of restoration.
