How do I get my Angel PCI card S-Video adapters to import composite video?

I have a treasured VHS tape that I recorded off-air in 2000. I want to
record that show digitally on my Dell 9150 MCE PC. I have an Angel PCI PVR
Internal Dual Tuner; MPEG-1&2 Video Capture Device. I was using the twin
tuners for MCE until recently when I upgraded to Digital Cable with a STB.
Besides RF in, the Angel has 2 sets of inputs for S-Video and 1/8" Stereo.
I am using one of these now that I have a set top box. Along with the PC
came a box containing, among other things, two IR LED Out cables (for STB)
and also two adapters: Composite Video In - S-Video Out. This should let
me just connect my VCR's composite video cable directly to the Angel S-Video
input jacks. NO GO. I can't get the Angel to recognize Composite Video
through their OWN adapters. S-Video in from my STB is fine. I can get
stereo audio from my VCR but the picture is black / not being captured.
Should I be looking outside of MCE and pick up a USB or Firewire Video /
Stereo capture device? If so, who makes them?
