Hi Barb:
Thanks for the suggestions, but I got around the problem by changing all of
the JPG extensions in my photo gallery to JPEG. In order to make it a little
less painless, I went into command prompt, changed from directory to
directory and did a blanket change, i.e. rename *.jpg *.jpeg. Not sure why it
worked, but it did.

Hi Barb ----
I am using Vista, and I can see my photos just fine in photo gallery, paint
and media player. My only problem is in Media Center. There, the program sees
my directory organization, but not the JPG files in it. Interestingly (if
that's a word), I tried a simple thing last night, renaming a couple of files
from xxx.jpg to xxx.jpeg. That seems to make them visible (no directory
change or anything). Of course that would be a real pain in the *** to have
to do to thousands of photos (but it did work).

are you using XP or Vista?
can you open the files in photo gallery in vista?
how about windows paint?
does windows media player see them?

You and I may have the same problem. I haven't figured out the solution yet,--
but maybe sharing my thoughts may help both of us to get a solution.
M/S indicates that only certain file types can be supported, and one of
those file types is JPEG (which makes sense). BUT, M/S also says that the
file can't be "corrupted". If I look at the properties of my photos, even
though the extension is JPEG, I'm told that they are ACDSee Jpeg files.
ACDSee is the program that I (and many others who have received photo
management software from camera manufacturers) use.
I haven't confirmed it yet, but I expect that the problem is that ACDSee has
added content that Media Center can't deal with.
Do you see something like what I see when you look at your file properties?
Does anyone reading this post have any ideas for a easy way to clean up the
files and get them back to being normal (acceptable) JPEGs?

Can't get Media Center to add pictures from anywhere on my computer to its
gallery. Using HP Pavilion 1410 without remote. I respond to all of its
requests but at the end "No folders added". Music files work fine. Tried
all I know to get pictures into galler but no success.
