HP has always "tried" to help me with my os. Sadly, their solution is to re-install sometimes. If that is the case and I know there is another solution I just say no and continue my search. Look at your mc services and see if they are set for automatic. Also, what happens when you go to the exe and right click, run as administrator?

Well, not that it solves the problem, but HP is supposed to support the OS since it is preinstalled and not a retail version. So HP is kind of "passing the buck" rather than help you figure out the problem.

HP said that it was an issue with Windows and not hardware related. Like I
related before, it was in my program list before but has vanished. The new
shortcut I created with the information that was given to me, did create the
MC icon but when clicked it gives the error mentioned below. Don't know if it
is related to permissions or what. I don't recall resetting anything that
would effect that.
