Have you tried deleting the xbox 360 connection on the xbox 360, then delete the user files for mcx1. Then try to reconnect the xbox. i have lap and desktop ultimate running multiple xbox360's with only a mce gui hang on the xboxes. if I push the green button a second time it unfreezes.

Havent checked back here in a while, I still have yet to find a solution, I
have kinda just given up on the search and probably will eventually just
reinstall vista. I have yet to see a way to "repair" media center, seems
like you should just be able to put in the vista disc and have it repair it,
but apparently not.

I seem to be having a similar problem, except MC crashes when I access the
guide. Anytime the guide is accessed or used (changing channels or just
looking at the guide info), this seemed to happen the last time the guide was
updated. I found the guide database and deleted it then downloaded a new
one, no joy still crashes, I did notice I can access the guide fine with MCE
on my 360. I did not try with another user though, and the event viewer
only informs me of a crash nothing useful.
Thoughts?
