How to fix "Update Rollup 2" problems??

My Dell XPS Windows Media Center Edition PC has worked flawlessly for
2 years until last week after I installed "Update rollup 2". Now I
need to fix the problems by either restoring the system or fixing the
bugs. Major bug was that any time I tried to play a recording, I
got a blue screen with "Digital Audio Service" overlay.
Other problems were intermittent, several DVDs would freeze and not
play for example. For the first problem, I read that I needed to
figure out what model TV tuner I have and update drivers. I decided
that I just wanted to get back to level of functionality that I had
before so I uninstalled rollup 2 via control panel-->add/remove
programs-->show updates -->remove.
After removing the rollup, I am hosed. Now when I go to media center
and click on TV, I get a crash with "Component Registration Failure:
Some of the files needed to play radio or video are missing or
corrupt. Media Center component registration may have failed."
After, I can't watch live TV, can't view guide, and can't see any
recordings. When I close it I get error message: "ehshell.exe -
Common Language Runtime Debugging Services".
Oh, and the dvr-ms recordings I made via MC while I had rollup 2 on
the computer are unwatchable in Windows Media Player.

I don't want to go any further without advice on how to get things
working well the way they did before. If that means restoring
pre-rollup version to functionality that is fine. If it means fixing
bugs, that would work too.

Display adaptor: RADEON X850 XT Platinum
DVD: NEC ND-3530A
I actually don't know how to find the TV tuner specs. Original
paperwork just says Dell TV Tuner
