Re: Stop 0xA error on shutdown in Media Center Edition 2002

I have an HP machine; the OS reports it is Media Center Edition 2002 with
SP2. I've been very happy with it but for the last two weeks it is giving
the Blue Screen of Death with a stop 0xA error in the final shutdown
stages
(just after installing some automatic updates). I have not installed any
new
hardware or software recently.

I have to pull the plug to restart and then it sends the dump to Microsoft
but that gives no suggestions. The knowledge base suggests a device
driver
may be the problem but I have no idea how to find which one. Nothing has
recently changed except regular automatic OS updates.

I don't know how to debug it further. Should I try to upgrade to MCE
2005?
Anyone have any advice on next steps?

Dave

If you think it is a recent Windows update, you can go into Add/Remove
programs, check show updates and remove the most recent updates.

That will do not harm, any updates you need will be updated the next time
you have Windows update.
