Re: Clicking the Hard Drive Icon

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT. Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes

In the Classes key, see if there is a Drive sub-key. If so, right click the Drive sub-key and select Export. Then right click it again and select Delete. Reboot and see if this resolves your issue.

Try the following, in order:

Open a Command Prompt window and enter

REGSVR32 /I /S SHELL32.DLL

If that doesn't work, in a Command Prompt window enter:

ASSOC DRIVE=DRIVE

And last, but not least, see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Fixes, File
Association Fixes, Drive Association Fix.
