Hi JW
Just so you know, installing SP2 will not install MCE2005 for you if you
have an older version of Media Center.
It will only take you up to MCE2004.

Then I would suggest that he upgrade to XP SP2 which will upgrade his
MCE2004 to MCE2005 and then install the updates to MCE2005.

No, he said in his original post that he had MCE 2004.

I assume that you have MCE 2005 as your OS.
Based on you responses there appears to be a problem witth you MCE tuner
card drivers. Make sure you download and install the latest MCE drivers
for you tuner card from the manufacturrs Website and that you follow
all instructions for removing the drivers you currently are using when
you install the latest ones.

Hi JW:
MCE still plays DVD's fine. The 2 original recordings that came with
the
default configuration of the PC do play properly in MCE as well. I can
also
see the guide & set a recording from it, but nothing gets captured. I
have a
few TV programs I previously recorded before it stopped working, and
those
play just fine in MCE. LIVE TV is the only thinng that won't work. I
get
the Video Error everytime I try to watch it.
NOTE: Windows Movie Maker software (came with the PC) "does" see &
capture
the TV signal properly from the capure card, so that should eliminate
hardware as the culprit.

I don't have the early posts in this thread so you will have to bear
with me
If I ask things that have allready been covered.
Can you play a DVD in MC? If not what Decoder software are you using?
Can you a play a recorded TV program in MC?
Can you play a recorded TV program in Media Player?
Can you play the sample recorded programs in MC?

I should have mentioned this before in my original post. I have run
the
MceRepair utility before as well - with no success. I'm still right
where
I
was 5 weks ago now when this issue started. No LIVE TV.
I would hate to go out and buy a new TV Tuner/Capture card and end
up with
the same problem. That's why I was hoping some MS or MVP folks that
monitor
this site would chime in with some additional trouble shooting for
this
error?
Thanks

I have had some success to report. The "MceRepair" file which can
be
downloaded at this site got the TV working again.

I still don't have the Program Guide working yet. Have tried
several
things
from Forums and Sony support site, but it still crashes when trying
to
download. It even Crashes when trying to set up the internet
connection.

Any MVP's or MS folks out there with any suggestions for this
issue?
We
could really use some guidance if you have any.
Thanks in advance!
